This summer has been an veritable baptism by fire to World Campus, ANGEL v7.1, and assorted new processes (some beneficial, some useless) thrown in for good measure. We are just over a week into the summer session and, in the blink of an eye, I’ve gone from 98% focus on Su07 and 2% on Fa07 to just the reverse. Whatever happened to the 80/20 rule? Nonetheless, the Memorial Day holiday found me relatively mindless–and reveling in it, truth be told. For a change, I went completely offline (sharpening the saw, as one of my designers likes to say) and left the work laptop firmly plugged in… at work. Even the personal pc stayed dark, other than checking on eBay auctions. 🙂 I’m finding more and more that unplugging from work is necessary for my sanity. What will I do when I start back in on my masters in instructional design? Hmmm. Let’s table that topic for another day.
And now we are back in education mode. Starting the real work on Fa07 courses, cleaning up administrative tasks that got pushed to the side as we rushed to work around the ANGEL upgrade, and making the necessary tweaks to Su07 for smoother student sailing. Need to turn my attention back to accessibility issues, css and how I can better integrate my design skills into such a structured environment.
In the interim, I’m going to remember to catch my breath.
