I ran across this twitpic photo earlier this week. It’s of a woman named Anne Gerwig who is being sworn in after winning a runoff election for a seat on her Village Council in Florida. From what I can Google, Gerwig has used social networking to her advantage; she even she has a Facebook fanpage where you can support her campaign. What I find particularly interesting is this: If you look at her hand, it rests on an iPhone, not a Bible. “But what is this?” you ask, and I can tell you. She’s being sworn in by placing her hand on an iPhone that has a Bible app on it. YouVersion is more than just a Bible; it’s actually part of an online community.
So, in case you haven’t gotten this straight, this is a woman who’s being sworn into a position to lead her real life community, using an electronic Bible application that connects her to an online community. Recursive? Meta? You be the judge.
Unless they have an app for that as well.
