Now, all kidding aside, I don’t post this to humiliate my friend (although there’s a friendly dig in there somewhere) but really as a reminder to myself that it isn’t just me who finds daily blogging a challenge. Life gets in the way. Things come up. Work insists on being addressed. And sometimes–more times than I’d care to admit, actually–I have difficulty coming up with something “relevant” (using air quotes). I think that’s the problem I have with a forced march–errr, daily post requirement–because I’m not always inspired. I like being struck by an idea and then exploring it on my own time, although I will also acknowledge that’s not as regular as it should be. I think it is sometimes easier to rely on a networked approach (one that I’ve tried to put into place numerous times but have failed even THAT attempt to mine ideas) simply because what other people say can be relevant, topical, and yes, inspiring. It’s just comes back to the fact that it’s really about the discussion that’s happening around us. Of course, you then must come up with your own talking points; hopefully they add to the conversation.
That being said, I want to add a personal thank you to my friend Timmy. Because his immediate blog challenge FAIL (on Day 1!!!) aptly demonstrates the fact that we’re all human, and we miss a day. Even the first day. It also gave me another topic for another post. Kind of him, doncha think? (If you participate in those silly one post a day challenges, which I’m definitely not doing.) The important thing is that he’s back on the flogging blogging horse.
Even if he’s already behind me.
