There are many ways to describe who I am and what I do. Here’s the professional version:
Robin has focused on the connections between learning, community and user-centric design throughout her career. As the user experience designer in Penn State’s Teaching & Learning with Technology group, she helps to imagine and build things that make the Penn State community more open and connected. Her current focus is the user experience in application development, including the Penn State Digital Badging Platform, an open resource bank, and the complete redesign of the administrative user journey of an intelligent collaboration research application. Other projects include guiding the General Education Task Force in their efforts to create a transparent, open environment in the use of authentic discussion and collaboration while rethinking Penn State’s General Education requirements.
Robin is an award-winning speaker in the higher education community and travels throughout North America to speak and teach on the user experience, universal design, and emerging trends and their integration into the teaching and learning process. She’s a passionate user advocate, and can be found online everywhere engaging community and misbehaving as Robin2go.
I, however, prefer the crowdsourced version, a collaborative effort written one evening while on Twitter:
What is there to say about Robin2go? She is loud. She is a chewy center of enthusiasm, wrapped in a shiny candy coating of laughter. She has an uncanny ability to build community around her just by walking into a room. She’s notorious in the higher ed community, as inescapable as her brilliantly red hair; she favors authenticity over political correctness, and can tie any lesson to a Firefly quote. Her career highlights include having a job that pays her to play with technology and people, and that, for some unknown reason, people invite her to speak at conferences on the user experience, community engagement, social networking, and knitting.
Also, she can kill you with her brain.
Your mileage may vary.
