I’m sitting here at Pioneer Square in Portland waiting at the pre-party for the official kickoff to at the World Domination Summit 2014. This is such a full two days plus (I say “plus” because it seems to unofficially start days in advance and continue days after just because people don’t want the experience to end). I’ve already been in two breakout academies — Travel Hacking and RevolutionU — and like most of the people here, I can’t wait for more.
And for good reason. World Domination Summit is an engine of belonging. It creates a safe space to dream, to meet like-minded people interested in creating opportunities to focus on the values of community, adventure, and service. In short, it begs the simple question:
“How do we live a remarkable life in a conventional world?”
I find that, more and more, this question resonates within me so much that it starts to shake loose the cruft of my ordinary life choices. It teases me in the daydreams of down time; it whispers to me in the dark of night. It speaks to who I want to be in my latest expression of self. It spoke to me last year at #wds2013 (so much so that I bought my #wds2014 ticket before the end of the second day) and I’m back again this year, ready for more. Chris Guillebeau, the man behind the summit, is changing my life and he doesn’t even know it. I can’t wait for tomorrow to start.
I’m so ready.
